My Sanctuary: Laura Normanton
While home has often been considered a feminine space, too few opportunities have been given to women to tell their stories about the places they inhabit and the objects they value. Our sanctuaries articulate our unique aesthetics, rituals and needs and so become a beautiful expression of selfhood.
In this series we discover the stories of home and life told by some of the wonderful women in our midst.
London-based Laura Normanton is the executive editor of House & Garden Magazine, and her eye for interiors is guided by enduring elegance and sustainably sourcing. Laura although in the midst of renovations, shares some moments from her Sunday at home with us.
“I love baths and either at the start or end of the day I’ll make time for a long soak. I try to use organic and natural products on my face, hair and body”
“Still a work in progress, the sitting room will take a while to complete but I love the rug and tablecloth on the side table. This is where we end the day, normally watching a film”
“In our new kitchen extension, we have created a comfortable little zone with a sofa and a rug. It’s a great place for coffee and the papers at the weekend”
“Weekends start with a long lie in for me. My husband gets up early to exercise but I’m not as energetic! We recently renovated our home and put a super-king sized bed in our bedroom, it takes up a lot of space but its such a luxury! The headboard is one of my favourite prints!”
