This Lustre Black Dhow Salad Plate is designed by Bethan Gray in collaboration with 1882 Ltd. Slightly smaller than the Dinner Plates, this platter can be used for starters, desserts or however you please – when laying your table it looks charmingly art-deco when placed on top of the Lustre Black Stripe Plate. Made from fine bone china this piece is finished with 22-carat gold and black decals, details which are only possible by hand. The distinct dhow pattern is Bethan Gray’s reinterpretation of the billowing sails of Oman’s boats which is printed on to these ceramics to create a piece of art for your tablescape.

This pattern is only possible by hand; the motif is meticulously applied in three separate pieces and the plate is fired twice, in between paintings.

1882 LTD’s name pays tribute to the longstanding history of ceramic craftsmanship in the Johnson family. The brand was formed by fourth and fifth generation descendants of the Johnson pottery dynasty whose achievements culminated in their annexation by Wedgwood Group in 1968. With a wealth of knowledge of ceramic industry history as well as a design philosophy that allows them to collaborate with talented artists, they create a combination of essential pieces and intricate objet d’art which highlight the heritage of hand made craft skills in Stoke-on-Trent. Their ceramics are made to be loved and used, whether that be in everyday dining or as an adornment to your home.
