This exquisite Glass Coup is made using the traditional decorative technique called “reticello” – this involves the merging of two cane bubbles, one inside the other, whereby they become twisted, crossing over each other to create a lattice pattern. The forces of red and blue are used by Laurence Brabant to create either a “Dark” or “Light” effect on this Coup. This chimerical goblet is enchanting, you may find yourself wanting to drink from only this.
Each piece is hand made in France. The technique of free hand blowing is used and these objects are made without a mould – as such each piece is completely unique, slight nuances are to be expected and revered.
This brand is the collaboration of designer Laurence Brabant and glassmaker Alain Villechange. - together they design and manufacture refined utility pieces for an enchanted daily life. Laurence Brabant Editions creates objects with the understanding that the pieces which furnish our everyday living are more than their mere materiality. With a certain poeticism their glassware plays with transparency, color, and form which combine to evoke a visual impression of movement. Their playful designs are synonymous with childhood yet the delicacy of the glass is incredibly refined - their pieces are dynamic and will assume centre stage in any space.
